MONTENEGRINS LETTER TO HIS SON.
A Montenegrin Avrote to his son m the Canadian contingent as follows: —"Yes, my dear, son, at last the time has come for us to measure our swords with the Anstrians, .but you are mistaken when you say that* we shall firid them easier •io beat than the Turks. /It is true that the Austrian soldiers cannot be compared, with Turks as far as hand-to-hand fighting goes, which is the thing that proves the brave man, but the Aus 7 trians can fire their deadly rifles, and the greatest hero can fall to the bullet. This will explain to you * your dear brothers, Rodonja and Noviya, have been killed, also our dear, relatives, Stephen Kostitch, Spasoje Kostitch, and Nicholas Kostitch. Your brother Tajo arid I are wounded, also our relatives Peko Kostitch, Ljubo _Kx>stitch, and Gavno Kostitch. % s "Now with- regard* to yourself, my son. You are amongst strangers, and m a strange country, which may not inspire you with, the same enthusiasm for fighting as if yoa had been amongst us; therefore I, your father, beg of you not to disgrace our name, but to shed your blood without hesitation, if necessary, the same as I know you would if you were here. Remember that you are fighting the same enemy, therefore fight with a hero's .faith, and if it is God's will, die as your brothers. died, for a glorious death .is k better and sweeter than a coward's life m luxury." •-_-_-*------------■-*. •
