MELBOURNE, Jan. £9. ' The plea of the small man to be allowed toiftght, for ,the Empire m tlie Ex~, pedition'avy Forces is not to be granted for the present. To-night Senator Pearce stated that, it was not the present intention of reducing the height limit. "I do not 'think," he said, "that it would be a good advertisement for Australia that her troops should be smaller,than those from other parts of the Empire. We have adopted the same measurements as those of other countries. Then, too, wb are now receiving an ample number of recruits who come up -to full measurement.
