(Special to Herald.l CHRISTCHURCH, this daySergt. A. J. Williams, of the ,12th (Nelson) Company of the Canterbury Infantry 'Battalion, who *tvas wounded m action at the Suez Canal, was a member of the New Zealand Defence Staff be* fore going to the front, having been stationed at Blenheim for 12 'months. Sergt. Williams, who is 32 years-of age, began his military career 13 years ago, when he joined the 4fh battalion of the Rifle Brigade and served with it m the South African campaign. ' Subsequently he was stationed m India, and then he participated m the Somaliland campaign as a sergeant of mounted infantry. He wears the South African and Somaliland ribbons. • He had only been m the Dominion about 12 months before leaving with tho expeditionary force-
