DEATH OF LORD RANFURLY S ONLY SON. '

LONDON, Feb. 4. Viscount Northland, only son of Lord Ranfurly, died of wounds received when serving with his regiment, the Cold stream Guards, at La Bassee. '

LONDON, Feb. 4. At a meeting of the New Zealand .War Contingent Association, it was announced that £8000 had been subscribed, and £1000 had been expended 6a comforts for the New Zealand troops. . A resolution of condolence with Lord Ranfurly was passed. [Lord Northland (Thomas Uchter OaUlfield Knoz) was born on June 13, 1882, being the only son of Lord Ran fuly. who was Governor of New Zealand from 1897 to 1904. He married m 1913 Hilda, daughter of the late i^ir Daniel Cooper, Lord Northland served with the Coldstream Guards m 1900-6. and gained the Sonth -African medal. j
