THE BEACH FETE.
(To the Editor of the Herald.) Sir, —ln his letter last.: night, Mr Spillman makes a somewhat ambiguous reference to the non-appearance of the "Darktown troupe', .0i... MinstrJEJjs" . at Thursday's function,in aid of .the' Beach Beautifying Aissbciation. vMay I point out that • the 7origirial "Darktown Minstrels" put on a show- at the Opera House for the children's > creche, and assisted- the -Women's' Patriotic Committee m their river carnival, but so far'as .1 can learn took no part m last Thursday's fete. I have spoken to most of our members; but none of them knew they were - expected to be present;- although. Tarn quite certain that.had they beeti asked, the members would have been only tbo: willing to' have done .all they could to assist so-good an object as tho wonien's committee were working for on Thursday, and would have also have, given a hand to save the lives of the Royal Life-Saving Society's team. —l am, etc., " ' v ■-"■ PERCY ANDREW.
