'AUCKLAND, this day. Messrs Massey and Fisher conferred to-day on reciprocity in defence and other matters, but the proceedings were confidential. Mr .Fisher said the meeting was very cordial as a • preliminary to a conference. It was encouraging for strengthening good feeling between •the- two countries. DUXEDIX, this day. The Hon. Mr Allen this morning, in answer to a question whether there was likely to be somewhat more . definite organisation given to the National Reserve, said me duties would be more clearly defined. The /law' 'would not allow theilr being .made a. part of the military organisation, but the Government were anxious to. utilise "the 'reserve as best they could." He was not in a position to say anything definite as yet. Mr Allen said he thoiiprht the election petitions would come on. in February. Ladies' Doubles (second round) : CUmpbcJ! and Brewster beat Misses White and Black, 6—l, 6—2. : Men's Singles (third round) : Wallace boat Harraway, 6—2, 6—l, 7 — 5. . Mixed Doubles (second round) : Miss Baird and Uoss beat Miss Hughes and Olliver, 6—2, 9—7.
