PEACE CENTENAKY. Press Assn. — By Telegraph— Oouyrif-rUt.. LONDON. Dee. 25.,, The British and American Committees, exchanged 'greetings on the occasion of the peace centenary. They suggest, that' the celebration be renewed at* the end of the war. Lord CJfey, President of the British Peace Centenary Committee, has sent a manifesto to Mr Roosevelt expressing profound thankfulness for the stead y i*;rowth o£ mutual affection and goodwill between our peoples during the century of peace. May this memorable day prove the stepping stone to'- a new century of unbroken peace between our. two countries and a common effort for the; betterment of humanity. An American manifesto says that tinfortunately and sorrowfully we are called on to mark the centenary celebration amidst the • most terrible and most destructive war in history. The Times, in a leader, says the manifestoes bear witness to the 1 universal sorrow with which the ; Englishspeaking race forego the celebrations planned for • to-day. Not until ' the swords are sheathed eau public Rejoicings mark pride and thankfulness of a memorable' triumph of peace and goodwill.
