* Over 100 spectators assembled at Mr Wootton's paddock on Saturday to witness a clay pigeon shooting match, held under the auspices of the 'Makaraka Gun. Club'. .Ideal weather prevailed, .and a very _ pleasant afternoon was spent. The meeting was a decided success,', for which much credit is due to the officials of. tbe. Sandlant* Te Karaka (17yds) and. Jas. Munro, Makaraka (15yds) <•' tied for first place with 9 ktiUs each out of 10. They divided the first and second prise money. A. McKenzie. B. Aislabie, T. J. ;Harris, J. Beattie and C. G. ilanlon (Napier), with .7 kills each, shot off for third and fourth prizes, with the result that J. Beattie (Gisborne), 15yds ; gained third money, and T. J. Harris (Rere), 14yds, took fourth prize. O. Sandlant annexed Mr G v Holmes' trophy * for most breaks off the first barrel, be securing his nine /kills off the first barrel. Spme sweepstakes were then shot off. The first was a £10 5-bird, match, in which ' 20 shootists took part. S. G. Glennie, Rere (20yds); T. J. Harris, Rere (14yds), and A. J. Harris. Rere' (15yds), had to ehoot off for the final. Glennie proved the winner, and the other two 'divided second and third money. There were 14 competitors in the -next sweepstake, which was again won by S. G. Glennie, who put up a remarkable performance, making 21 kills in , succession off ike 20yds mark. . He used a Boswell gun. O. G. Hanlon, Napier (20yds), was second, and.T. Sharp, Makaraka (13yds) came third.
