THE LOCAL DETACHMENTS

I The seven mounted men to reinforce tho local draft of the expeditionary force left for Napier, this morning by the s.s. Ruru. From Napier they proceed to the concentration camp at Trentham. The infantry detachment of reinforcements leave to-morrow night. There will be go men m this batch, and they will be taken to Trentham by Sergeant Major Henry. The names are as follows Herbert Brown, Henry Chaplin, Robert Downey, Douglas Faram, Jack Hughes, John F. Hunt, John' William Holmes, Joseph Houghton, Albert Hardiment, Chas. Hays, Robert Francis Lloyd, Douglas Marsh, Chas. Mitchell, Walter Henry Morrow, Reg. Parsons, Thos. Saunders, Roy Scarf e, Jas. Somerton, Geo. Wm. Webster, Innis Walker ; emergencies: Wm. Carter, John Thos. Willuns, Francis Haughie. The men aro not being equipped here, but will receive their kits at camp. They are to put m at least six weeks' training at Trentham. Further drafts of reinforcements will bo sent away monthly, but tho numbers required aro not yet known.

Arrangements have been made for the troop of Legion of Frontiersmen to form the reinforcements of the Otago mounted force to leave for Napier next Saturday evening by the s.s. Ripple. They will concentrate at Trentham, whers they receivo the equipment, except homes, which will be taken from Giaborne. The men will go to camp . m the Legion's uniforim The Poverty Bay squadron has contributed about 50 men towards the expeditionary force, some "having gone with the mounted detachments, and some are going with the artillery men, who also leave to-morrow night. Captain F. M. Twistleton, of Gisborne, who is the officer m command of the Legion of Frontiersmen m New Zealand, has been appointed to the command of the Otago Mounted Rifle Regiment of reinforcements, to which the local members will be attached.
