PUBLIC WORKS CONTRIBUTION
Mr C. E. Armstrong, District Engineer, to-day handed to the chairman of the Defence Committee the contribution to the War Fund*made by the officera and men of the Public Works Department m this district. The total amount forwarded was £181 Is 6d, made up m the following manner: Officers and staff £30 10s 6d, workmen Gisborne-Motu railway £71 10s 3d, workmen Gi&borneNapier railway £46 10s 3d, workmen on roadworks £31 13s 6d, miscellaneous 17s. total £181 Is 6d. The subscribers have expressed a desire, that the funds shall be applied for the use and benefit of those directly connected with the war, and not foi* local relief purposes.
