Cheesman, secretary of the Master Butcher's Association," states that according to reports from the south' the 'retail' butchers are paying. 1 as high as £2 per 1001 b fori freezing beef, ss' per '1001 b more than the , local butchers ace . paying whole-, sale.. The increases locally, lie says, I will not be handed on to, the public, as the butchers are very reluctant to make the consumers suffer; but this step will be. necessary if the wholesale prices are further -increased. He points out how urgent it is that the Food Prices Commission should arrive .'it its findings to prevent additional advances. It- is now a week ago since two o,f the- leading master butchers gave evidence, vbut as vet nothing further has been heard from the Commission.
