It- isvclaimed that the : Veedee ' is. useful m treating quite a number of .complaints, and .uurihg the evening a number of practical experiments were carried, out. The veedee is a simple -little instrument ,for producing mechanical massage: ~By • turning a crank hartdle, an unbalanced fly-wheel' is set m rapid "motion, and this causes, the whole - framework of the contrivance ; to rapidly - vibrate.. As many as 6000 vibrations per mlnu^V are given off. By means or a body plate rigidly ' fixed to the instrument these vibrations are directly transmitted; .-to^the part' affected. . Mr A. T*. Scott, tlie. general manager of the Veedee's New Zealand tour, m intrqduc Ins Professor Wright, stated that, al-though-the'Veedee had been m existence for a number of years, it was only recently that its use had become widespread and practically .-. universal. Mr Scott warned his hearers against spurious imitations which had., imitated. tho Veedee m everything except its power to cure. Professor w'.'T. Wrjght then gave a short lecture, '■illustrated by means of a number of physiological . c lides.,-during the course or which he explained' the action- of the Veedee In the treatment of a number of diseases. At thg, conclusion of the lecture an, invitation was extended to sufferers to come up on to , the stage -for treatment. A large number responded," and it was noticeable that most of these limbed pain? fully along, while others held their arms ■In cramped- positions, due to the ravages of rheumatism,- lumbago, sciatica, : etc. The machines were set 4o- .work two at a time, the professor operating one and. a nurse "the other... The two -first, patients were both suffering from- stiff shoulders. Before the .machine. » was, applied they were unable to .lift their, arms above the elbow*. After .treatment, however, they were "a pic to stretch their arms right above their Hauls;, and they, seemed well pleased with the results obtained. 'Later on a. sciatica>' patient, who beforo , treatment could only pick iip a piece of paper off. the floor with the greatest difficulty, found- that after being treated he : could bend, down with ease; Cases of deafness, vvcalc eyesight.,. rheumatism, etc., were, all •taken, and patients -and audience <. alike seemed well .satisfied with -the efforts of tlie Veedee specialists. At .the conclusion Mr Scott announced that -he had' taken premises at Adair's new building,-Glad-stone road, wiiere free trial treatments of the machine will be daily given to all sufferers who call.. -
