The Government bulletin issued today states: — . ' On the Oise and Meuse the Germans occupy a prepared position, armed with . heavy artillery ; consequently the Allies' progress is slow. The vigor and entnusiasm ' of the troops is unabated. The Allies v successfully repulsed a German xjounter-attack. , The situation generally is unchanged,. The \ enemy continues to fortify lis positions. It is 'reported .that Cologne, Dusseldorf, Wesel and Duisburg are strengthening their fortifications and preparing their defences.
.Many German;, regiments traversed Liege m the direction of France. The German's are preparing strong reinfforcements outside Liege to. prevent attacks. from the north and north-west.
Military operations m the north-east of vßelgium are imminent. There hare been many demonstrations m the large bitles of Italy, insisting on Italy's participation on the side of the Triple Entente. The Austrians' are evacuating Galicia m a state of complete rout. The German corps whioh reinforced the Austrians is now retreating. There are indications, that the ' shattered Austrians are retreating towards Cracow, hoping to make a stand there until reinforced by fresh German troops. It is reported tb,at the damage to the German, warships recently arrived at Kiel was due to a flotilla engaged m hunting passenger ships •m the Baltic mistaking its own ships for Russians.
