TARUHERU (.'() v. V.M.A.C. (1)
Owing to the Newstead ground being unplayable, this match ' was decided on the Taruheru ground. Both teams wqre short-handed, "-YVM.A.C. only mustering seven and Taruheru nine men. Notwithstanding this fact a good, clean game ensued. For the winners Downtc, as usual, shone m the forward line, and Miller iiv goal was the only other, one conspicuous amongst a good tenm. For V.M.A.C. all played well. Crichton, m goal, was a tower of strength. The veteran -Bert -Hosier played a great ganie; The. goal for the losqrs was scored by a very fine/ piece of his individual work. Downie (2) and McMurray scored for the "Works." Mr J. Holmes as referee gave complete, satisfaction. GISBOR^E (ft) v. COUNTY (0). On the Reservt: Gisborne intlicted a crushing . defeat upon County by five goals to nil. As tlie score indicates, the Barfie, was not at all an even onei Gisborno showing themselves superior at all times. County were playing several juniors, and were, plainly "at sea," without the services of their captain, Jim Sonierton. Mr Woods' very capably wielded the whistle. Tlie scorers were Fryer (',) and Shields. JUNIORS. In the. junior competition County beat V.M.A.C. by four goals to one.
