With the fall of the barometer winds everywhere had freshened this morning, and a horth.-west gale was blowing atf 5 Farewell Spit. There was snow on the higher country at Queenstown. Passing showers were reported at Manukau Heads, Tiritiri, Taupo, Wellington.' Pare^ well Spit, Westport and Greymuoth. and hail at the Bluff. STATE OF THE SEA. Westport, and Greymoutti; moderate s<ais at Cape A^aria, Hokianga, and Manukau Heads; smooth elsewhere. . WEATHER FORECAST. To-day's forecast states: "Westerly winds strong to gale, and veering by west to south after about 36 hours. The weather will prohably prove squally and changeable; rain probahly following. Barometer unsteady, and rising fast after about 36 hours. Then the weather will pvobably become very cold. Tides poorsea, moderate off shore."
