PRIME MINISTER'S VISIT.
PROPOSED RECEPTION
With regard to^he pending visit of the Prime Minister, the Hon. W. F. Massey (announced m our last issue), ths Mayor, Mr W. G. Sherratt, has received a telegram from Mr Massey stating his intention , to visit Gisborne on Wednesday next, and return south the same night; also that he would be pleased to meet the Mayor and Councillors, and •hear anything they had to place before him.
His Worship informed a Herald v represeritlative to-day that he had instructed the Town Clerk to call a meeting of representatives of local public bodies at 3.30 p.m. to-morrow at the Council Chambers, to discuss arrangements for the Premier's reception and entertainment. He had also communicated with the Chairmen of the Cook and Waikohu Counties, Harbor Board, Chamber it Commerce, High School Board, etc.. inviting them to be present. Mr S'herratt added that it was proposed, subject to the approval of the meeting, to accord tho Prime Minister a civic reception at 10 a.m. This would be followed by deputations, and after luncheon it ' was thought the visitor might bo taken for a motor run m the country. There was not much time ! o do anything, but it was desired they should do something to mark their appreciation of the visit.
