HOKITIKA, this day. An inspection of the sea front to-day discloses a very serious position as the result of last night's gale and heavy sea. From fifty to one hundred feet of the bank has been carried away, together with buildings and fences. The damage amounts to a considerable sum. Other damage by the gale includes the unroofing of a portion of the racing club's main grandstand," while fences and trees suffered to a great extent.
