FORFEITED BAIL.
ALLEGED PICKPOCKET LEAVES £120 DEPOSIT.

AUCKLAND, hist night. Walter Gray a man from America, seems to have gone away and left the Justice Department of New Zealand a little present of £120. During the New Zealand v. Australia cricket match in Eden Park on Saturday week Detective Hammond picked Gray out in the crush ronnd the luncheon booth and arrested him on a charge of attempting to pick pockets in the crowd. On the pvisonei*, who is a little man 36 years of ago, \v ei*e found a. pui*se belonging to a man -who had lofci it at the cricket match, r.nd £127 ill mortey. The following Monday prisoner was remanded for a week, and was let out on bail on his deposing £120 with the police and promising to report to tile police daily. At 8 p.m. that Monday night he reported, a.nd since then his not been seen. He did not appear when the charge was called at the Police Court again this morning, and his bail money of £120 was estreated*.
