For some time past the Railway and Defence Departments have been making preliminary arrangements for the hi,*; divisional 'camp to be held at Takapnu, Hawkte's Bay. from April 27 to May' 10. Ail branches of the service Will be represented at the camp, which will bo the largest over: held '» 2C ew Zealand. Two special trains, will be required to convey tho 1000 tents.. 50 marquees, a-nd equipment necessary to accommodate the 5000 men who are expected to attend, For some time, pßst the, Railway Department has been strengthening some of the bridges and culverts oil the Napier line, fas the present structures have shown' «igns of weakness in tests which have been eonducted . with the big Main Trunk engines, which will be used specially to convey the extra heavy and lengthy trains of territorials^ Everything at Takanau will be on a stupendous scale, apd, given fine weatheiy New Zealand's biggest camp wil give those «vho participate in it something to talk fifbout A correspondent reports that the camp has been the predominating frolic of conversation in- military circles for months.
