A Bill prohibiting the oxportatioh of ■Aorn-out hordes has passed tho second reading Mtago m the House of Commons. The increased prosperity of most countries and new modes of civilisation arc making mankind more carnivorous. The luxury of meat as food is not relinquished when ''once acquired, and higher prices will cause discontent m the industrial cianses. It is hoped that the situation will be eased by ii iprovements to Agriculture and stock-raising, both at Home and abroad. ( There were harrowing stories told m the Hpuse of cruelties to horses and gruesome accounts of horse meat sausages. Several members spoke of their personal knowledge of the shameless Continental trade.
