SABBATH OBSERVANCE.
RAGE OF AMUSEMENTS AND PLEASURE. "It is a matter of grave concern," said the President of the W.C.T.U. m her annual address, "that the rage of amusements and pleasure, and the increasing tendency to week-end trips threatens to become a* serious menace to the sancti'.y of the Lord's Day. Nothing is more terrible to the reflective observer than the prevailing total indifference to the intrinsic excellence of one day's cessation from toil m the week, and the callous disregard of the channels of religion. The rightful use of the Sabbath lies , at the foundation of 'the nations greatness. It is the keynote of our social contentment. Let us therefore resist present-day encroachments on the sanctity of the Sunday, let us preserve it inviolate, let us never forgqt that it is a day hallowed by God Almighty Himself, and that it is one of the most priceless privileges bequeathed to us by Him whose kingdom is an overlasting kingdom, and whose dominion endureth throughout all ages.."
