(£er Press Association.) v . W-ELLTNGTON, last night. The annual conference of the New Zealand Federated Plumbers' and Gasfitters' Association of Workers was attended by delegates from . Auckland, Wellington^ Taranaki, Christchurch, Timaru, Dunedin, and Invercargill. Regarding the proposed dominion . award, referred yesterday to the Arbitration Court' with a request by the association' that a .conference of the parties be ordered to negotiate on the basis of the Auckland award, the judge had stated he had no power to compel a conference, but would suggest that one be held. Acting on the suggestion the parties conferred last night. Nothing definite was docidt-d, and tlie whole matter was again referred to the Court. . . CHRISTCHURCH, last night. A deputation representing the Christ•church City Council and , adjoining boroughs waited on the Hon. W. Eraser, and. asked if the Government Was going to take ,a. contract • for the supply 'of power from Lake Coleridge to large, consumers. Councillor Taylor said that if tlie Government compete it would, mean a rearrangement of the prices charged by tli3 city for supplying the N local authorities- The Minister replied that tlie (government did not want to waste the power. If the city was prepared to supply the power required at once it would hand over: the contracts tlie Government had made to the city, but could not allow prospective consumers 1 to wait two or three years.
