DUNEDIN, . this day. The Otago Trades arid Labor Council, m an appeal to members, says : "We have reached a critical stage m labor 'history. The present state of labor organisation is unsatisfactory. Large numbers of local -unions are .unaffiliated with any , organisation for,, collective action. To meet the .present critical position the council . has decided to .remodel its constitution and enlarge, its functions. It has decided to extend its soope^ to include political as well as industrial action. In future it will fight with both political and- industrial weapons*- It urges that m view of the coming general election a. forward policy m ess-entia-1. . 'I'o this end a, conference is to be held on March 18 to amend the constitution/and make it the "greatest Labor organisation yet seen."
