THE KING AND PREMIER.
(Received Feb. 17, . 11.55 a.m.) LONDON, February 16. The King's presence at the Rugby football match, Ireland v. England, at Twickenham, ia interpreted as a' desire to show a personal concern m Ireland's crisis. It is the more noteworthy as he did not visit the Welsh match on the same ground.
The Daily Citizen, commenting on the present conversations of the King and Premier on the whole Irish matter, -says that Mr Asquith, like' the King, cannot afford to let slip the opportunity of showing tact wherever Irish sentiment is concerned.;
Tlie Daily Citizen mentions growing signs of a Liberal revolt owing to the proposals for' a compromise, and adds : "It is suggested that Court influences have made themselves felt. There will be much suspense m Liberal circles until Mr Asquith announces his intention. Meanwhile results of the pending byelections are expected to have considerable influence on his decision."
