While travelling at the rate of 50 miles an hour at Los Angeles, Dave Lewis, an entrant for the Vanderbilt Cup race, lost, control of his motor, and dashed into a 'crowd, killing avwar veteran 1 and ' injuring' five'spectatorsthree of whom are women. Lewis' condition is serious. He was pinned with the mechanician under tho over-
turned car.
