AUCKLAND, this day. Alec Johnson, wharf laborer, was found dead m a pool of blood outside his lodgings at 5.30 this morning. Death was 'probably due to hemorrhage of the lungs. Deceased was recently employed m one of the intercolonial steamers.
WANGANUI, this day
At the S.M. Court to-day Mrs Carroll was fined ss, and costs 7s, for keeping the Marblo Bar premises open on Sunday. It is tho first case of the kind heard m Wanganui. Securities were given for appeal. Three shopkeepers were fined for keeping premises open after hours. .
CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Tho Conciliation Council is required this week to consider two applications for .m award m the carpenters nnd joiners' case, the Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners of Canterbury. Tlie Carpenters and Joiners' Association failed to agree, and both cited the employers.
