LIKED GOLDEN HAIR.

BLACK BEETLES IN MELBOURNE MELBOURNE, Feb. 6.

Countless numbers of a species of small black beetle, Aphodius howitti, invaded the eastern suburbs on Friday evening, and caused great annoyance m shops and houses. The beetles showed a peculiar partiality for girls with golden hair. Finding that brushing with their hands was not sufficient to dispel the invaders, some girls did not hesitate to let down their tresses m the streets and finally dispose of the creatures. Chivalry was shown by some men, who went to the assistance of the distressed damsels. Other men nngallantly laughed, and said that the scene was better than a picture show comic.
