CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH.
(Per Press Association.)
AUCKLAND, last night
A matter of considerable interest to the members of the Congregational Church was dealt with at the .sitting of the Council of the Union of NewZealand yesterday afternoon and again this morning. The proposal was reaffirmed that a fund of £10,000 be raised for a forward movement, and it was decided that if -Rev. Henry Steele Craik could get leave from Mt. Eden Church lie should be appointed organising agent to visit the various churches of the Dominion and bring the scheme prominently before the congregations. The committeee reported m favor of starting to raise a £10,000 capital fund for a forward movement, £8000 to be donated m the Dominion, and the Colonial Missionary Society to be asked for the other £2000 on condition that' if granted no further contributions should be asked from that body for home mission and extension work.
