CHRISTCHURCH MYSTERY.

YOUNG MAN'S DISAPPEARANCE. (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, last night. A considerable amount of consterna: tion has been occasioned m business,' cricket, and rowing circles m Christchurch by a rumor that a, well-kMoWn ex-cricketer, who is the representative m Dunedin of a big' Christchurch firm, has disappeared, leaving no tractj — or practically none^ — of where he has gone or what has happened to him. Last Wednesday the young man booked a return passage from Dunedin to Lyttelton, and telegraphed his friends m Christchurch that he was paying a visit to this city. There seems little doubt tbat he boarded the**-Mauhganui at Dunedin, for his handbag,' 'which comprised all his baggage, has been found on tho steamer, and the purser has m his possession the return half of the missing man's steamer ticket. He did not apparently arrive m Christchurch, and did not go on by the steamer to Sydney. What has happened to the young man is at present a complete mystery. There is n6 suggestion that business affairs were worrying him. He was tc have been married at Dunedin next week. As far as is. known by the Union S.S. Co.'s officers, the youn/j man left the steamer at Lyttelton. Tlie missing- man is Mr W. O. Hebden, representative m Dunedin of Messrs "Mason. Struthers and Co., Ltd., oi Christchurch.
