AUSTRALIA v. AUCKLAND.
(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. The match between Australia and Auckland was resumed at Eden Park this morning, m beautiful weather, the wicket being splendid. Snedden opened the- attack, Dolling turning his fifth ball to leg for a boundary. A brace, to McKenzie came off Clark, who bowled from the opposite end. A maiden to Snedden and three singles were registered off Clark. McKemsio banged Snedden to the boundary, and then drove him for a single, a couple of singles olf Clark brincing up 50. A single to Dolling and McKenzie got Snedden to the boundary, but m trying to repeat the stroke, lie was clean . bowled — 55 — 1—34. Collins followed, driving first from Snedden to the .boundary, and putting him through the' slips for a single. Clark's next over cost 7 runs, three singles from Snedden, and" a total of 70 was up. Two and a single were obtained by Armstrong off Snedden, and Clark sent down a maiden. Off Snedden's "next over three singles resulted. Clarke sent down the last over before lunch. Waddy' pulled the second leg to boundary, and cut a fourth for a single. The luncheon adjournment was taken with the score at 170 for threo wickets — MeKenzie, b Snedden 34 ; Dolling, c Brook, b -Smith, 40; Collins c Smeeton, b /Smith, 37; Waddy (not out) 35 ; Armstrong (not out) 15 ; sundries, 9. Six was debited against Clark's next half dozen, and eight against Sneddon, bringing., about a bowling cliajige. Smith relieved 'Clark, Collins getting him to the boundary, and a single to each following. Sneddon was expensive, 'Collins getting a single and Dolling two boundaries m succession. In Smith's next over the century was hoisted, each batsman sending: him to the boundary, and Collins getting a single. - Taylor relieved Sneddon, a bye and single to Collins resulting. A single to Collins off Smith, and then Dolling swung one round high, and Brook, running m, took a nice catch. 13^-2— A. Waddy was the newcomer, Collins greeting him by driving Smith to the boundary, and then notching a single to each came off Taylor, and a. single to Waddy off Smith, and Collins swung one round to Smooton at square leg, th ? fieldsman bringing off a splendid catch. 121— 3— r37. Armstrong followed, opening with a drive for a couple. Waddy pulled Taylor for a brace and a boundary, Armstrong getting a eowple and a single by driving Smith. ;• A sinprle to Armstrong, and Waddy jumped m and drove Taylor to the boundary, pulling the next to the chalk mark and driving the fifth for a like total, 13 eominc: off the over. Snedden took! the ball from Smith. A single to each and a drive to the boundary by Armstrong, and 150 was up. Clark bowled from the pavilion end, Waddy pulling the first for four, and turning the next to leer for a boundary. The batsmen opened out and continued to score, Waddy playing especially bright cricket, scoring all round the wicket. He topped the century m 66 minutes, bavin" given only one chance of stumping.
