AUOKLAND, this day. Avondale residents erected two formidable timber barricades . on roads leading to the nightsoil depot recently established m that district. About mianight the sanitary contractors, accompanied by Dr. Makgill. Health Officer, proceeded to remove the obstacle, A gap was made, through which six carts passed to the depot. A number of residents watched the proceedings. Voices Ayere raised m protest, but there was no serious demonstration.
WELLINGTON, last night. Tlie Wellington manager of the Blackball Coal Co. says there is no truth m the statement appearing last tyeek m the Sydney shipping list that the B. Byrnes, Ltd., Co., had purchased the collier Ngatora for the Sydney-New-castle trade.
