'LONDON. December 18. The detectives who aw inquiring into the murder of Miss Cliristina Bradfield, whose body was found, on Thursday floating m a canal at Liverpool, have obtained several clues. They have proved conclusively' that the woman re- ! mained behind m her brother's ' tarpaulin works on Wednesday evening. She was 'putting on her furs and gloves before leaving when she was attacked from behind, stunned with a club, and brutally battered. The murdergr or murderers then forced the head into a sack, doubled up the body, which they bound with ropes used m the packing department, and then put the body into a larger sack. The gruesomp bundle was placed m a hand-cart- belonging to the firm and wheeled to a. canal, half a mite away, where it was droppped into the water.; Two iron bars were tied to the bundle, but they did not prevent it from sinking. It floated along tho canal and became jambed m a lock-gate, where, it was found by two bargemen. The bundle also contained a woman's umbrella with a silver mount, which enabled it to be identified as Miss Bradfield's. A handbag which contained a large sum of the j firm's money, is missing, and it is practically certain that Tobbevy was the motive of the murder. Miss Bradfield i was 35 years old, and of pleasant appearance. A "• medallion of a Japanese virgin was found on the / body, also a brooch of the Three Wise Monkeys, the well-known Japanese device, which shows three monkeys side by side, one. covering its mouth with its paws, another its ears, and the third its eyes, signifying, Speak, hear, and see no evil. George Sunnier is 22 years of age. Elloft's statement was that he did not know what was contained m the sack east into the canal.
