Mr Millar's health is showing signs of im- i provement, but it is inadvisable for; him to deliver any lengthy speeches ; | consequently he will not address his! constituents. i Mr G. S. Thomson, who has been . appointed organiser m Otago and South, j land for the Social Democrat party, | commenced his duties yesterday morning | m view of an. election for Dunedin West 1 if the Hon. J. A. Millar decides to I retire. . At Port Chalmers a resolution was I passed, wishing the party success 111 acontest for this seat, and at Dunedin | wharves, where Mr Thomson addressed j a meeting, it was resolved, on the motion- of -Mr- W. J. Maguire, seconded by Air Thomson, "That this meeting ofi watersiders and seamen out on strike are indeed gratified at the result of the Lyttelton election, and' feel that it is really the forerunner .of many similar results. The attitude of the Massey Government during the present strike he surely responsible for strengthening the politic^ side >of labor." - It was further" resolved, on *h~ notion of Mr (*.
