SOME ATHLETIC FIXTUItEri. i Several .interesting athletic events will be held m connection 'with, th©; Auckland Exhibition, which is now. in full swing m tho Auckland Domain.. prie amateur meeting was held oh the evening of December 3, m the specially illuminated grounds adjoining ' the J__shibitioii, and a second amateur meeting is fixed for December 20. On January 10, however, there will commence a series of meetings of much greater importance. On that day there will be a big amateur r^orts meeting under thb control of the Amateur Athletic Association. Chief among the performera at the meeting will bo a team of representative American .athletes, who have recently arrived m New Zealand specially to take part. On January 21 there will be another amateur athletic meeting ; and still aJiother is fixed for February 18. On January 12, 14, and 17 there will be held a professional New Zealand Athletic championship meeting,, and m conjunction with it a. pipe band contest. Great interest is being displayed m this fixture, and a large entry 'is expected, thoroughly representative of athletic circles throughout the Dominion. The pipe band content will be only the second so far held m New ._oah.li... and as a large number oi' entries, for the musical and dancing events ia expected, the contest .'.hould be out? of the most interesting to be held m connection with the Exhibition .
