A GIGANTIC DEAL.
PURCHASE OF CO VENT GARDEN ESTATE. (Press Assn.— By Telegraph— Copyright.) (Received Dec. 17. 8.30 a.m.) LONDON, December 16. Mr H. C. Malaby-Deeley, M.P., has purchased the Duke of Bedford's Covent Garden estate of 19 acres for several million pounds. It includes the Covent Garden market, opera house, several theatres, and the National Sporting Club. It is the largest private purchase on record. Estimates of the purchase price of Covent Garden Estate range from five to ten millions. The purchase includes 26 streets, the Waldorf hotel, the Aldwych, Strand, and Drury Lane j theatres, and the Bow street Police Court. Mr Malaby-Deeley prveiously purchased the site of St. George's Hospital for half a million, the Piccadilly Hotel for half a million, and St. James' Court flats for a quarter of a million.
