Sir George Kekewich, addressing the National League for Clean Government, said bribery had become part of the Parliamentary system and public life. The Corrupt Practices Act was evaded and there was a market for honors £5000 for a knightood, £525,000, for a baronetcy; and £60,000 for & peerage were the recognised prices.
