THE FLORAL FETE.
(Contributed.) I hear that the floral fete arranged for November 13th is b&ing ' organised by the same individuals who undertook that most successful and artistic affair af last October — the Cairo bazaar. If so, it should be something well worth joing to' see. I hear that there are to be several quite novel items m the programme being worked up for that occasion. We certainly want something novel to make an affair of that kind really attractive. This promises a' good deal, but time will show us the result. Some of the ideas are pretty big, but if well carried out should be well worth seeing. There are to be classes for decorated vehicles of all descriptions from motors to dolls' prams; and most excellent prizes fox all, m most cases, 1 am told, three for each class. This is most generous, and should' certainly tempt many to pay the small entrance fee that will surely be required. I nave also heard of a procession of the nations m costume, represented by all our nicest young people of the feminine gender, all on horseback, each carrying the colors of their nation, represented on a shield m flowers, for competition as it's a floral fete. -Sounds very attractive to me, and quite a new idea, too, to my rather limited experience, anyway. Then I was told that eight of tho principal nations will also go through a set of lancers on horseback as another item. We have sonjo excellent lady riders m Gisborne, and this should be a very pretty sight. There are many other attractions being worked up, but I could not glean anything quite definite. 1 shall doubtless hear more soon, aiui meantime I tliink we should all be ready to give our strongest support to this floral fete, and m every way that we can. It is for a splendid purpose, and though I am well aware very much ha.s already been given most generously and willingly, we must keep on at it till this beautiful church of ours is free of her Wkn - A BYSTANDER.
