Repi'csentatiOriS respecting various local requirements have recently been pla'eed before the various. Ministers concerned by the membei s for the Bay of Plenty. * ' ' ' • The Hon. W. Fraser, Minister 6f Public Works, replying to a request for a £ for £ subsidy on an estimated cost of £4000 for a bridge over the Repo- J ngaere ford, and. a grant for £250 for a deviation of Bond's road, states that he is complying- with Mr Mac Donald's sug-' gestion' to obtain a report, and both applications will have consideration m connection with the estimates.
"Carefui consideration" is the promise made by the same minister m response to a request from the Te Arai Settlers' Association for a subsidy of £1000 for the .nqfetailing of the Middle road ot the Arai: settlement. The Hon. Mr Fraser has also acknowledged the WaiapU County Council's schedule of grants asked; for, with an equally non-committal reply. As the outcome of repeated representations m connection with the erection ot a post-office at Matawai, Mr Mac Donald has been notified by the Minister of Public Works that the Postmaster-Gen-eral informs him .that it has been decided to accept the offer of Mr Mortleman of a site for a post-office on the condition specified, viz., that a per : manent building is erected within two {rears ironX. tjie date of transfer of the and.
