At a public meeting held m the Matawai /Hall r .pn Saturday evening last an association was formed consisting of about twenty members ..to be -known as the. '.V' 'Matawai-.'. Progressive League." '•__ • At a meeting of the school committee held last evening, Mr Morgan, member of the Hawke's Bay Education Board, and Mr. ! BoJand were present by invitation, -twhen much • valuable information was gained by the committee. .Opportunity was taken of the. presence of Mr. Morgan to discuss several important points. in connection with the new schooL and' the teaching staff,; and a. hearty vote of thanks Mas extended to Mr. Morgan for his courtesy. Mr-,D. M. Cockeriil,' who took up his services to-day (Monday) as a temporary head j teacher was also* presently invitation, and a welcome byithe members of Ahe"committee was extended to him. Miss Lanjr, who acted as temporary head teacher after Mr Mjpßean's, departure, proceeds to Patutahi school.
