RIOTING AT LONDONDERRY

The authorities strenuously endeavored to keep ;the rival factions' 1 apart.
Franois Armstrong was shot dead* m Fountain street while looking out of an upper window. The bullet was evidently fired from a point overlooking Armstrong's window. The police declare that there were frequent shots throughout the evening from higher roofs. The police did not return the fire. The Mayor has now requisitioned the services of the Cheshire Regiment as a precaution against a "renewal of the rioting- ' . (Received August 16, 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, August 15. The pdlico a^ Londonderry have been instructed to shoot if rioting recurs, and warnings are ignored. Three hundred troops are quartered m the town, m addition to large bodies of constabulary drafted from neighboring towns.
