ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
(Per Press Association.) MARTON, this day. While hunting on Saturday Mrs D. G. Riddiford, wife of the master of the Rangitikei hunt) met' with a nasty accident. Her horse struck a fence, falling on tho rider, who received a broken collar-bone. Her thumb was dislocated ; it is feared that some ribs are also broken, and she was severely shaken. CHRISTCHURCH, last night, Yesterday morning a man named Albert Ceilings, aged 42, who is engaged as a fellmonger at Islington, committed suicide by putting the barrel of a gun in his mouth and 1 shooting himself. At the inquest before Mr H. W. Bishop, Mrs Col lings said he had been .on a drinking bout lately, and when he was on drinking bouts' he threatened to commit sunicide. The Coroner returned a verdict of suicide whilst of temporarily unsound mind. INVERCARGILL, this day. Daniel Sinclair, aged 54, single, a arardener,. was found drowned in the Waihapai river. Apparently in crossing he got stuck in the soft mud. Martin Scully, a sawTnill hand, was taken to the hospital, suffering from a gunshot -wound. While sweeping out a room he knocked over a loaded weapon, which exploded, the charge entering his chest. His condition is critical.
