; Fearful distress exists among the strikers m the Black Country. Dozens of families have been without food for days, and the unions have only been able to render them the most- meagre assistance. " In scopes of cases homes liave been broken up, and one instance, is quoted of a family. .of nine people occupying one room with a single bed. Strikers with barrel-organs and gramaphones are parading the streets and making collections, and carts are goftig through the' towns begging • contributions of food. A large number of children are being fed m the elementary schools.
