The question was introduced b\- a report from Referee Dowland. who had ordered Choyce- (Alhambra) uff the (ield on a charge of striking H. McDumkl (Kaikorai.) Mr White then referred to it; ugh ness of play. The chairman (Mr Harris), w'-'o i\:ts not present at the match, said he had been deluged with deputations that morning, and from what he c< r.Jd gather the play had been unnecsssa-i'ily rough. From what he had been told the referee would have been justified m closing the game. Members of the committee who -.vere at the match said the play was unnooessai'ily rough, but stated their inability to give the names of players concerned. It was decided to request the ciptain and deputy-captain of the- Alhambra team, the captain and Dryden of the Kaikorai club, a member of the committee of each club, the referee and Choyce to attend the next meeting," ; "
