AUCKLAND, this day. It how transpires that a Hamilton resident, Mrs A. Parker, participates m the Hartley millions to the extent of an eighth share of £4,500,000.
The correct version of the facts is as follows: Some time ago a gentleman came to the Dominion from the Old Country to proseoute enquiries as Ito the whereabouts of Mr Stephen Charier, Hartley, who came out to New Zealand m the year 1840. ' The visitor was hot altogether disinterested m his inquiries, as he knew that if he could prove tho demise of Hartley without issue he wouki himself be the heir-at-law to an estate" valued m round figures at £4,500,CC0. He ascertained, however, that Mr Hartley, who for years resided m the Manawatu district, and who was well known throughout the North Island, died i" Paimerston 7 North, where:, he practised as a native . interpreter, bolt had left eight -.children, four sons and four daughters, who are the rightful heirs to the estate above mentioned, which comes to the family through their father's maternal ancestry. The directly-inter-ested persons are John, Charles, and George Hartley, .of /Raihgitiikai ; H. Hartley, •of Himitangi*; Mrs J. Curtz, of Orari ; Mrs H. Kibblewite, of Roto* rua,; .'Mrs "A. Parker, of Clifton road, Hamilton; and the children of the late Mrs H. West (nee Hartley), of Otakeho, who will receive their mother's share.
