BIG DEAL IN ROMNEYS.
Messrs Osborne Bros., of Currandooley. Bowllie, Bolero, and other well-known pastoral holdings m New South Wales, have recently, through the agency oi Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., made a purchase m New Zealand of a whole flock of Romney 7 *~sh sheep, the purchase probably being a record for this class of stock as far as New South Wales is concerned. The sheep number about 1900 ewes of various ages, and'3Co rams, the* vendor being Mr D. Cameron,' of Maori Hill Estate, Invercargill, New Zealand. Messrs O'sborne Bros, also purchased largely at Mr Short's recent sale of Romneys, securing altogether 68 high, class stud* ewes and 29 rams, w,hile they also bought 250 stud ewes from other well-known breeders m the Northlsland. They have demonstrated the hardiness and" ,-jeneral profitableness of the , Romney and Romney crosses m such districts as Monaro, and the introduction of such a large number of high-class sheep as the above should be a distinct gain to this State.
