MAN" SERIOUSLY INJURED

Late on Saturday night, when two | young men named .respectively McCullock, of Hawke's Bay, and Pratt, the! youngest son of Mr J. R. Foster Pratt, j of Paimerston North, were proceeding! to the latter's home at Fitzherbert, the motor car m which they were driving was overturned a short distance beyond the Fitzherbert bridge. McCullock, who owned the car, was driving, and m preparing to negotiate a steep hill which is approached with /a turn, took too wide a sweep and the wheel of the car struck the concrete edge of ...the .culvert, and the car turned over two or three times, ~"and was badly wrecked. Pratt was pinned' 'beneath, an*d McCullock was thrown out. Their crie^ for. assistance -were heard by neighbors, and when they arrived it was necessary to get. young Pratt, out. He was un-. conscious, and later, when medical help was obtained, it was found that he was very seriously injured about the head, having sustained a fracture of- the skull. His ribs Were also hroken, "and there .wejte other injuries.;. McCullock whs not seriously hurt-. .:..
