Commenting on Mr Ch-urchiU's statement that the Government is .considering tenders for the supply of oil for the naVy from the Mexican EagleConipany .and other companies,;- • the Chronicle protests against the suggestion that the Government is influenced by' the ViScourit" of Elibank's connection with CoWdray.'s firm, and Bays the Standard oil -is American, and Shell Transport oil is Dutch, whereas the AmericanEagle Company is British Controlled. The Chronicle .advocates the Admiralty developing the oilfields within the, Empire under its own management^ and continues ■: ' 'Uhf ortunately the Shell Transport Company has secured & monopoly .of/ Trinidad, but there are unexploitJed' oilfields ih Canada, 11 New Zealand'and "elsewhere."
