In the House of Commons, on a motion for adjournment, Mr Page Croft (Unionist) raised the question of converting the Imperial • Conference into a permanent Advisory Council. \ Mr- Harcourt (Colonial Secretary) m reply, referred to the labors of the Dominion's Trade * Commission, and also the. G^yeirnnient'B-lcfforts .to .establish,, ''towards the' I dbirimi6iW''ih6t'e«Cd' bf'fo're^n ' countries. ' The Imperial Conference. had rejected the suggested Advisory Council, but the Dominions had been admitted to the Defence Committee, a plari which, for the present, was satisfactory and satisfying. It might lead to more rigorous ties m the future, but ho doubted if it could possibly lead to a closer communion. He was confident that this step had secured solidarity of Imperial comity and had greatly contributed to • the unity of the British race.
