The perils of motoring, especially by night, are increased when the roads are up for repairs. On Saturday night a motor car was proceeding aJong Symonds street, Auckland, when it was precipitated into a tramway excavation. The occupants of the car were considerably startled and shaken, but were unhurt. The car was extricated from its awkward position, and was found to br somewhat knocked about. Lyndhurst were convicted of stealing a money-box containing 6d, and damaging another, in St. Peter's Church. Each was fined 40s, or in default 14 days' imprisonment.
