DEMAND FROM BRITAIN

| LONDON, May 2. .2 The Government denies the report that it has sent ah ultimatum to the Central American Republic of Guatemala regarding the payment of its public debt. The Foreign Office 'explains that all it did was to renew Britain's demand for the payment' of the Republic's indebtedness, the bulk of which lias been owing for 25 years. Guatemala has appealed to the United States for protection against the pressure threatened by Great Britain tb secure the payment bf the public debt.
